Yellowhouse Machinery is currently accepting applications for a resident John Deere Field Technician. This position will require the applicant to currently live in or relocate to the Dalhart area. This employee will operate a medium duty field truck with service body and crane.  All applicants must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen, but at this time, will not be required to possess a CDL.  Strong technical knowledge in the heavy equipment industry is required, John Deere experience is preferred, field experience is a plus. This technician will report to the Amarillo service team, and will work along side another field technician already operating in the area.  The applicant will be required to train at the Amarillo facility for a minimum of 2 months, prior to operating in a field capacity. Proper arrangements will be made to allow for this requirement.  Our applicants must exhibit strong work ethic and be able to provide supporting references.

Job Essential Duties:

  • Ability to drive a service truck to work sites to repair and maintain company equipment
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the heavy equipment mechanic field
  • Repair large heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, etc.); primarily John Deere
  • Perform work orders as requested
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as schedule dictates
  • Report issues and take pictures of equipment when necessary and send them to the Service Manager
  • Take pro-active steps with preventive maintenance or repair when troubleshooting
  • Reprogram various electrical component control units
  • Replace or rebuild drive train components, engines, cylinders, valves, etc.
  • Be able to properly diagnose and repair within standard repair times
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times while on duty
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area at all times
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong heavy equipment mechanical background
  • Familiar with hydraulics, electrical, powertrain and under carriage
  • Knowledge of the construction/heavy equipment industry
  • Ability to multi-task and follow procedures
  • Ability to maneuver around and crawl under equipment in order to conduct repairs, work in hot and cold work environments
  • A certain degree of independent judgment and latitude is required
  • Must have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical theories and principles
  • Must be able to travel
  • Basic computer and vocabulary skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate reports on tasks being performed
  • Ability to participate in company paid training as required
  • Possess own hand and pneumatic tools
